As arc-shaped structures can bear larger load than flat ones in the same characteristics of the structure and material, which means the former have better mechanical performance.
Hence if we use the arc-shaped baffle (Fig. 2b) instead of the traditional flat one (Fig. 2a), less material is needed, making construction of the fishways cost less and gain better structural durability as well.

Vinyl ester resins are one of the most common raw materials which have been used extensively in polymer engineering[3].
These resins are synthesized using raw materials derived from petroleum.
Replacing some of these petroleum-based row materials with renewable vegetable oil-based materials such as palm oil, can be attractive, both socially and economically as the use of these raw materials contributes to global sustainability by not depleting petroleum reserves[4].
