Because each grain of polycrystalline is surrounded by the surrounding grains, the slippage deformation must co-ordinate with adjacent grain, otherwise it will be difficult to deformation, can't even keep the continuity between the grains, the formation of voids causes materials fracture.
But the yield strength of single crystal aluminum has no obvious change; The fracture appearance of both materials belongs to ductile fracture.
