The sandwich core is made of a
commercial thermoset SMP epoxy system, DP5.1, while Aluminum and steel are considered as the
skin materials.
The critical buckling stress and strain of the metallic skins are much lower than the elastic ultimate values of the materials.
The results show that the compressed metallic skin is buckled at a very low packaging curvature, which is lower than the ultimate values of materials.

These limitations of conventional packaging materials have resulted in a search for newer ones and increasing focus on SiCp/Al composites as a potential candidate.
A number of property factors influence electronic packaging materials selection, thermal properties, however, are by far the most important.

The study site and the sampling stations are as shown in Fig. 1.
