The development of the transition metastable phases and the accompanying hardening of these transformations are studied for Al-20wt%Ag and Al-3wt%Cu-1wt%Mg supersaturated solid solutions.
Experimental methods The samples Al-20wt%Ag and Al-3wt%Cu-1wt%Mg were prepared by melting pure elements (purity 99.99%) in vacuum at 10-4 torr, homogenizing at 520°C and water quenching (23°C).

Currently, such characterization is typically performed through the use of electro- (EL) and photoluminescence spectroscopy or imaging.
For electroluminescence (EL) measurements, obtaining spectral information from specific extended defects is quite difficult and is typically acquired with very low spectral resolution [4].
For the images presented here, 28 A/cm2 was passed through 4H-SiC pin diodes with an Al implanted belt surrounding the 0.93x0.93 mm diode.
A gridded top-side contact was used to allow EL to be collected through the top of the device.
Finally, EL spectra from a (4,4) IGSF in Zhdanov notation exhibited two emission lines.
