The properties of Roman cement are influenced by many factors, especially raw materials composition and burning conditions.
The European projects ROMCEM and ROCARE [1] investigated authentic historical materials of different ages, as well as their production and properties of this binder.
Among other things, high strengths of up to 50 MPa were found in materials aged 100 years or more, while maintaining a high porosity of up to 30 % vol. [2].

The water portion remaining after the coagulation of skim rubber consists of various water-soluble materials such as sugars, lipids, proteins and minerals, which can cause the water pollution if serum is directly discharged into the environment without proper treatment.
It can be used in many applications such as a starting material for the synthesis of bioactive materials and inositol pharmacy.
This is because serum contains various water-soluble materials such as proteins, fatty acid, and saccharides which can increase the BOD and COD of water.
It was found that the sticky solid serum as a caramel-like material was obtained using hot plate and oven, while the solid serum fraction obtained by using freeze dryer was as sugar-like crystal form.
