If on one hand, its increase can contribute to the acceleration of the hydration in the case of Portland cement-based materials as in ACIII-E mortar, on the other hand, this cycling can generate differential tensions in the interface between the ceramic piece and the adhesive mortar, reducing its adherence.
Therefore, this work aims to investigate the effect of the thermal cycling in the adhesion of systems constituted of ceramic-adhesive-substrate coating, contributing to the understanding of use conditions of pieces in actual structures subject to cyclic thermal variations, besides contributing to the development of maintainable technologies through the use of alkali activated materials in substitution the traditional adhesive mortars.
Materials and methods In this work, a polished porcelanate was used.
Temperature had an adverse effect in the bonded ceramic systems, depending on the type of used adhesive material.
