Dendrites are the primary component of solidification microstructures in metals, and they are the basic microstructural form for most crystalline materials.
Microstructure formation is at the center of materials science and engineering, and it is the strategic link between materials processing and behavior[2].
Several methods have been explored to solve directly the full time-dependent free boundary problem such as a time-dependent boundary integral formulation, variational algorithms and front tracking method[3].Since the phase-field models(PFM) had been advanced, they have rapidly become very popular for the simulation of microstructures evolution during solidification process, and it is emerging as a method of choice for simulating interfacial pattern formation phenomena in crystal growth and other materials sciences

A gradual degradation occurs, when asphalt materials are exposed to the heat, air and ultraviolet (UV) radiation [6].
Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) are a class of inorganic layered materials that consists of positively charged layers and the interlayer exchangeable anions.

Homeland Security Center had researched the VHP decontamination effect of HD on internal buildings materials such as galvanized metals, decorative laminate, carpet and ceiling [5].The experimental results showed that the residual density on galvanized metal and decorative laminate surface has reached the security level with 525mg/m3 VHP decontamination for 400 min, but the HD residual density on the other two surface have not reach the security level.

When the contaminated materials have smooth surface so that the agent spreads into film, the decontamination time is less than 2h.

The development of materials with specific properties is a relevant engineering topic.
The composite materials, hybrid of metal structures embedded in polymer matrices, are intensively used in mechanical systems in order to obtain materials with high resistance associated to low weight.
In order to produce this material, techniques were developed that allowed the union of the component materials.
