Due to the prevailing conditions inside, the hearth of the blast furnace is made up of graphite, carbon, carbon-graphite, and microporous materials.
It implies a requirement for adequate quality of refractory materials applied, and as a consequence maintenance costs of such big units necessitate the extension of the life of the furnace.
Charge materials with titanium compounds have started being used in order to extend the life of the refractory lining and the service life of the blast furnace.

Lignin as biomass has been long labeled with “waste material”.
The unique properties at supercritical conditions, i.e. strong dependence of the solubility of a material in a super critical fluid to its density and good contact between oxidants and reactants, make SCFs ideal for separation and extraction of useful products and for oxidation of organic materials.
When using different supercritical solvent to process the materials, we can find the reaction of process, the yield, and molecular weight and so on have very big difference.
The mechanistic understanding of the process, the harsh operation environment such as high temperature and high pressure, and its request on the materials and associated cost are the main concerns for its wide application.
