Consequently, these materials are weak and easy to break under tensile stresses.
Therefore, when the brittle materials are employed for structural components, care has to be taken to avoid tensile stress.
Although brittle materials can endure a large compression, cracks may propagate when excessive compression is applied.

We conclude with derived legal methods and matters for consideration in the usage of optimization software for engineering products.
In the first phase, the main properties of the bridge were designed by using conventional methods of civil engineering.
Particularly when new materials are being employed, it is to be expected that a careful examination of their qualities and suitability for the planned usage is carried out.
Safety can actually come at the expense of the input parameters, something which is made very clear when, for example, the goal is to make savings on materials.

However, the gasket stress measurement which was difficult in the actual engineering site limited its application.
It is of great significance for monitoring or evaluating the joint leakage in the engineering.
The theoretical value is conservative and can be used in engineering practice.

Innovative composite materials, such as Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Matrix (FRCM), can be adopted for the retrofitting of masonry structures.
When dealing with stone masonry walls, the application of these innovative composite materials is usually preceded by a more traditional retrofitting technique: grout injection.
Indeed, being able to analyze the efficiency of grout injection separately from the FRCM strengthening system application is very interesting and could provide precious indications for the engineering practice, given that injection is usually performed as a preliminary intervention on stone masonry samples.

The diamond-like carbon (DLC) is one of the new kinds of materials.
From 1950s on, the new sort of carbonous materials has been invented constantly.
Fig.1 shows that some carbonous materials that prevail in the market and the corresponding qualities of them.
DLC can be the top one in the new kind of carbonous materials.
