Biomass, which already has a large percentage of totally renewable energy sources, is expected to have a strong growth in the coming decades within three key sectors: heat and power generation, transportation biofuels, and other bio-products.
Gasification is mainly a high-temperature partial oxidation process for converting carbonaceous materials into a synthesis gas composed mainly of carbon monoxide and hydrogen [6].
In the case of biomass, combustion means the burning of organic materials such as wood, straw, sawdust or waste wood.
Wood as an organic material is composed of 80 - 90 percent by weight of volatile matters (CO, H, hydrocarbons) with a high calorific value.
