Simulation of Flow Field and Temperature Tield in the Process of Filling and Solidification for K424 Alloy Thin-walled Casting Xin Wang 1,a, Zhijun Zhang 2,b 1Academy of Human Sports Science in Shenyang Physical Education Institute, Liaoning Shenyang, China,110102; 2Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Automation in Northeastern University, Liaoning Shenyang, China, 110004; ashin_wang@163.com, b working_zhang@163.com Key words: K424 alloy; thin-section casting; flow field simulation; temperature field simulation Abstract: In order to improve the utilization of K424 alloy, Z-Cast analysis software is used to get three-dimensional flow field and temperature coupling simulation in the process of K424 alloy castings filling, by considering the effection of pouring temperature, casting speed, shell thermal conductivity and temperature on the morphology of filling.
In the process of filling the mold, the molten metal stop flow when filling calculated to 53% ,and the time is0.718s;After the improvement of process program , the flowing front has arched shape only in the beginning moment of filling, then showed a steady advance form, and the temperature gradient is small, the total filling time is 0.863s.Can be seen from the figure of simulation results, the casting process has great impact on the flowing property of the alloy when the shell material is definite.
