Significant
advancements in fundamental, engineering and technological aspects have been achieved for
PEMFCs, leading to a wide range of portable, automotive and stationary applications.
Based on a review of the literature as well as our understanding, we would like to suggest several future research topics for high-temperature catalyst development: (1) Development of highly durable catalyst supports, such as carbon with more graphitic components, ceramic, and carbon-ceramic composite materials, which could survive in a hightemperature environment

Mounted in very expensive
ceramic packages with a transparent window, EPROM were used for system debugging, to be
substituted in volume production by either masked ROM or by OTP (One Time Programmable)
EPROM, i.e. the same EPROM devices in more cost effective plastic packages.
Usually a heavy junction n-doping of the cell array is performed in order to better engineer the drain of the cell for the CHE programming.
As a demonstration of the interest and of the activities on PCM, in 2003 6 papers, related to the phase change memory technology, have been presented at the International Electron Devices Meeting [46-51].
From this point of view the process integration improvements, as well as the chalcogenide and active materials engineering and optimization will be of fundamental importance and they will remain the focus of constant development effort.
