Ferromanganese and ferrosilicon are charged after slagging off in the furnace and before the iron is melted, with the aims of increasing the amount of manganese in melted iron, initial inoculation, hardness of the materials and graphite form.
Either too high or too low contents of Mn and S will change the metallographic structure and mechanical property of the materials, as a result of which the requirements of customers cannot be met.
But a decrease of contents in C and Si will induce the production of chill spots [7] on D type graphite,which has to be avoided; meanwhile thinning of casting walls demands that the material improve its strength on one hand; On the other hand, chilling tendency caused by increase of cooling velocity also has to be avoided.

The adsorption amount was higher than pure silica material; moreover the composite desiccant can effectively prevent the formation of salt solution for lithium chloride.
The main design idea of composite desiccant was to contain the silica-based materials full immersion in the lithium chloride solution to form intermediates, and then dealt with the intermediates with forced lyolysis in the hot and humid environment, finally formed the new composite desiccant.
