High strength aluminum alloys
Al-Cu-Si-Mn (2014) and Al-Si-Mg-Mn (6082) wrought aluminum alloys have been the principle materials used for aerospace applications, by limiting the content of accompanying elements, especially iron and silicon and by optimization of the manufacturing process, the damage-tolerant variants 2X24 and 7X75 were established; Al-Cu-Mg (2024) and Al-Zn-Mg-Cu (7075) [15].
