The corrosion phenomena lead to serious modifications in the structure of metallic materials from which are manufactured the important active components of hydraulic machines.
Metallic Materials with Cavitational Resistance Because the cavitation erosion is a severe phenomenon, [17], the metallic materials subjected to this type of erosion must simultaneously have the following property: corrosion resistance in aqueous environments (electrochemical corrosion), erosion resistance, high hardness, and high mechanical strength.
The structure of the metallic materials is very important in material mechanical characteristics and in the development of erosion.
For this, structure of stainless steel samples obtained in the Material Science and Engineering Faculty (www.sim.pub.ro) are used.

Department of Materials Science at Silesian University of Technology since 10 years conducts researches to learn about the structural phenomena which occur during hot plastic treatment which are aimed at elaboration of a technology of heat and plastic treatment of selected alloys from Al-Fe diagram.
The interest in this group of materials is caused by their low cost, low density, good resistance to abrasive wear as well as resistance to oxidation and corrosion, which creates broad perspective for their application in power, chemical, and petrochemical, naval and food industry.
