Stability of Granular Microstructures The stability of a grain microstructure is an important issue and of special interest for nanocrystalline materials.
However, for a system with impurities the situation is different from pure materials.
There is no experimental evidence so far that the grain boundary energy can be negative, except for the observation that grain growth in nanocrystalline materials is often arrested, which, however may be due to several reason.

Korsunsky 3 and Svetlana A.Barseghyan1 1 Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry, National Academy of Sciences, 2-tup, 10 Argutyan Street, 375051 Yerevan, Armenia 2 Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford, Parks Road, Oxford OX1 3PJ, UK Keywords: Mechanical Alloying MA, Metallic Coating, Solid-State Chemistry, Tribology, Wear ABSTRACT A novel approach for metal surface modification and finishing is proposed and developed based on the in situ mechanochemical processing of metal oxides in reducing media.
Hardness of the coating was chosen as a key property, since it is indicative of the work-hardened state of the material in the layer, the grain size and hence the coating strength.
In this process the surface of material is bombarded by the peening medium consisting of a stream of hard rounded particles, which induce localized plastic deformation at the site of impact.
Two materials were used for substrate, an A1 aluminum alloy (UNS number A91100), and a low carbon steel (UNS number G10100).

This paper focuses on a single crane scheduling problem which is motivated by cooled-rolling material warehouse in the iron and steel enterprise.
The materials used in the cold rolling process are steel coils from hot rolling.
These coils are stored in the cold-rolling material warehouse and are retrieved when they are required according to the cold-rolling production plan.

The compositions of all materials tested in this work are listed in Table 1.
In general, extruded aluminum alloys contain more stable substructures than rolled materials.
Therefore, extruded materials tend to exhibit fibrous structures after solution heat treatment.
