Introduction With the development of science and technology and industrial production, optical glass and ceramics, and other hard and brittle materials due to its many fine physical and mechanical properties, such as high hardness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistant, etc, are widely used in many fields such as aerospace, chemical industry and military.
But its machinability is poor due to its brittle nature, especially parts of the materials have high hardness.
The grinding tests are carried out to study the grinding performance of hard and brittle materials, such as grinding force and surface roughness.

A similar response can be seen in the plane strain deformation where the effective elasticity modulus is markedly intensified for the materials having a small volume change, as in the present case.
