For three layers symmetric structure of SEWs the two dielectrics are assumed to be of the same material hence the Anti-symmetric and the Symmetric Fano waves,

The differences between the Fano and the surface plasmon waves are similar to that observed for the single interface case However, what it is worth mentioning is that the anti-symmetric wave has larger AC than the symmetric which means it exhibits more losses.
