In order to create an up-to-date experimental facility for conducting NCT preclinical studies [6], including experiments on large laboratory animals, in 2002-2004, the Russian Foundation for Technological Development (RFTD) and International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) financially supported the reconstruction of HEC-4 tangential channel of IRT MEPhI reactor and the creation of the irradiation bay (Project No. 1951).
As a material for neutron moderator we used SAV-1 aluminum alloy that is used in nuclear reactor engineering.
