Schlichter et al. [7] tested neps and impurities of raw materials with AFIS under the conditions stipulated by Uster when they studied the adaptability between high performance cleaner and card and different impurity-containing raw materials.

In the second to the seventh experiments (different materials and carding conditions were adopted), the CV% value of total dust and trash (10 sampls were tested in each plan) is between 16.1 and 74.7 and the mean value is 36.9.
From Tables 4-5, we can observe that, (1) the range and mean of CV% value varies in different experiments, which show that experiment materials (especially uneven distribution of imurity) and process conditions have some effect on test results.
