Description: Interest in the phenomenon of superplasticity has been increasing steadily over the past two decades, both with regard to promoting fundamental scientific understanding as well as commercial application. Most of the early studies on superplasticity dealt with microduplex metallic alloys. The unabated interest in, and scientific research on, superplasticity has now broadened the scope of the topic to include intermetallic compounds, ceramics, composites and nanocrystalline materials.

Description: The present work addresses every aspect - from experiment to modelling - of the physical metallurgy of aluminium alloys; with particular emphasis being placed on processing, microstructures and final properties. The entire gamut of material applications is covered here, including transportation, packaging and building, and all Al-based materials are considered, such as Al-Li alloys, laminates, composites, and ultrafine structures prepared using conventional or novel techniques.

Description: In recent years the particular significance of Materials Science and Technology has been generally accepted in the industrial countries. The use of materials in different applications is limited due to their natural tendency to react with their environment, i.e. corrosion. Since corrosion is typically an electrochemical phenomenon, different electrochemical methods form the scientific basis of corrosion research.

Description: Fundamental and applied research efforts to develop, characterize, and design structures with high temperature composite materials such as metal matrix composites (MMCs) are underway across the continents. New processing methods, evaluation of critical material properties, constitutive modeling, performance prediction are important needs which are essential for effective utilization and application of these materials.

Description: The term "interface" means different things structurally, according to the materials involved and their thermal and mechanical history. Moreover, an adequate description of an interface may vary considerably, according to the property being related to it.

Online since: January 1995
Description: Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters CPCI-S (WoS).
Confirming the fact that the various phenomena related to plasticity of metals and alloys continue to constitute a highly active field of research where many interesting developments are currently taking place, this volume presents 63 articles by well-known experts, on the topics of current interest.

Online since: May 1994
Description: This book reflects quite clearly the expansion of the field of "textures" as well as the rapid growth of the texture community. During the recent years, the scope of this field has been expanded to virtually all crystalline and even partly crystalline materials including intermetallic compounds, ceramics, polymers as well as multiphase composites and even fullerenes.
