Description: The 3rd International Conference on Oil & Gas Industry, Technologies and Applications (ICOG-ITA 2024) was held in a hybrid format on September 10–11, 2024, in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. The conference was organised by the Oil and Gas Engineering Programme at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) UMS Student Chapter. The theme of this conference was “Advancing Technological Solutions Towards Sustainable Future Opportunities”, and it showcased the most recent research on sustainability and cutting-edge technologies in the oil and gas industry. This edition will benefit a wide range of individuals, including industrialists, researchers and academics.

Description: This publication includes the articles from the 5th International Conference on Chemistry and Materials Science (IC2MS 2023) held on October 11-12, 2023, in Malang, Indonesia. The IC2MS series was launched in 2017, with the first meeting that attracted more than 200 participants from over 40 universities/institutions representing such countries as Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, Brunei Darussalam, and Australia. Since then, the IC2MS meetings have been held biennially as a joint conference organized by Brawijaya University, Jember University, State University of Malang, and Universiti Teknologi Mara with the aim to build up strong academic relationships and united scientific community. The 2023 event was organized by the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Brawijaya University, which was the initial host of the conference inaugural meeting.

The main focus of this collection of peer-reviewed articles is three different aspects of biohydrometallurgy: this is the field of microbial ecology which is the key to answering central questions concerning not only the diversity and behavior of micro-organisms in commercial operations, but also possible applications in biohydrometallurgy of extremophiles coming from very different environments. This covers metal recovery bioprocesses, including basic and applied studies of bioleaching and bio-oxidation; but also bioflotation. A large part of the book is given over to interfacial studies which contribute to the understanding of the interaction between surfaces and micro-organisms during those processes. Also covered are the remediation of mining activities and environmental protection as related to mining and mining industries.
