The 45th volume of the journal "Advanced Engineering Forum" contains peer-reviewed papers that present the engineering solutions and research results in dye-sensitized solar cell, mechanical properties of welded rail joints and designing of morphing air wing with flexure hinge, construction mechanics, assessment of effectivity of two types of biofilters in a constructed wetland for the wastewater treatment. For readers will be interesting also the results of using the bio inhibiter for corrosion prevention, the conceptual design of the high-voltage transformer for scientific and industrial applications, results of cost-reduced optimisation of the hybrid renewable energy microgrid, and the design of cloud architecture for the cyber-manufacturing systems. The professionals, students, and scientific investigators working in the various engineering fields will find this volume of value.
In recent years, research and development has advanced greatly. Materials made using nanoscale components add new functional and structural properties: yielding nanocomposites and opening up many applications. Such nanocomposites are of great importance for a multitude of industrial uses and attract much research interest. This special issue on Functional Nanocomposite Materials is a collection of twelve papers whose contributors are at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, the University of Science and Technology of Beijing, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, the Shenzhen Academy of Aerospace Technology, the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology and Georgia Institute of Technology. From these papers, readers can glean new research ideas in nanocomposite materials, as well as sense the quality of the work now going on; especially in the region of east Asia.
