The book covers a broad range of topics related to damage and failure of structural materials and parts. The collection contains the results of research and analysis of the fracture behavior of the materials that are subject to fatigue and extreme plastic deformation including analysis of the failures caused by stress concentrators such as welded joints. Several papers focus on the structural design of engineering parts and prediction of their lifespan based on the knowledge of damage processes. The materials combine aspects of experimental, theoretical and computational investigations with an emphasis on the direct applications in engineering.

The book was comprised of the papers presented at the conference "New Methods of Damage and Failure Analysis of Structural Parts" (November 01-04, 2016, Yokohama, Japan).

The concept of the 22nd Concrete Days (CD 2015) allowed a rich programme of expert lectures and posters but also enough time for professional discussions, informal business negotiations and friendly meetings.

The Czech Concrete Society CSSI as the organizing body of the conference has done its best to ensure a convenient stay for 22 times. There were more than 310 participants at the conference this time.

The selected papers include recent results of scientific and engineering decisions in area of researching of properties and manufacturing technologies of modern concretes; modelling and design of structure elements from concrete and realization of significant construction projects.

Description: This treatment of “Time-Dependent Mechanical Properties of Solids” beginswith a phenomenological description of the transport of some unspecifiedentity. It is assumed that the transport is caused by mechanical stresses ortemperature fields. Using these assumptions, it is possible to deduceformulae for a theoretically based description of several phenomena withoutreferring to any specific process or entity. These theoretical results thenprovide the tools for performing methodologically better scientific work andfor a better analysis of data in the practical application of materials. Bypublishing this work, the author hopes improve technical safety intransportation and other fields of practical materials application. Anothergoal is to stimulate the scientific investigation of a wider range ofsubstances in order to analyze more extensively the elementary processeswhich produce observed phenomena. This second edition is extended andChapter 12, five new Sections as well as the Appendices A7, A8 and A9 areadditionally inserted.
