Description: This volume contains the abstracts presented at the 13th International Conference on Fracture, Fatigue and Wear (FFW 2025), held in Ghent, Belgium, from 29 to 31 July 2025. The conference gathered leading researchers and engineers from academia and industry to share advances in fracture mechanics, fatigue, tribology, and material wear. Emphasizing both theoretical and applied perspectives, the event fostered interdisciplinary dialogue through analytical models, numerical methods, and experimental studies. FFW 2025 aimed to promote global collaboration and innovation in addressing real-world engineering challenges.

Description: This book contains the abstracts presented at the 12th International Conference on Fracture Fatigue and Wear (FFW 2024), which was held in Xi'an, China, during the period 28-31 July 2024. Previous conferences were celebrated in Jinan (China, 2010), Kitakyushu (Japan, 2013), Kitakyushu (Japan, 2014), Ghent (Belgium, 2015), Kitakyushu (Japan, 2016), Porto (Portugal, 2017) and Ghent (Belgium, 2018 - 2023). The overall objective of the conference is to bring together international scientists and engineers in academia and industry in fields related to fracture mechanics, fatigue of materials, tribology and wear of materials. The conference covers industrial engineering applications in the above fields, including theoretical and analytical methods, numerical simulations and experimental techniques. One of the aims of the conference is to promote cooperation between international scientists and engineers from a large number of disciplines who are involved in research related to fracture, fatigue and wear.

Description: Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters BCI (WoS).
Crack growth is a complex phenomenon and difficult to model without assumed simplifications. In recent years, there has been an increasing realization that advanced computational methods such as the Finite Element Method, the Boundary Element Method and Mesh Free Methods can be used to simulate crack growth in complex structural parts. This special issue contains original papers written by active researchers in the field of computational fracture mechanics. The aim is to inform those in the fracture mechanics community who might not be at the forefront of computational research of the recent developments and techniques available and the wide range of applications for which solutions are now possible.

Description: In many engineering applications of composite and laminate materials, damage and failure can be caused by impact of various types. Low-velocity impact is potentially dangerous because it can produce extensive sub-surface delamination that may not be visible on the surface. High-velocity impact produced by projectiles, shock waves and fragments from exploding ammunition is a highly dynamic event, leading to the penetration or perforation of composites.
All impact damage is detrimental to the mechanical and structural performance of composites. Accurate evaluation of the damaged state, and a fundamental understanding of the effect of damage upon the resultant properties are therefore essential for the proper design and application of composite materials. The strain-rate dependence of material behavior, fracture propagation and energy-absorbing capacity are also of paramount importance from both the materials science and structural mechanics perspectives.
