The purpose of this Diffusion Foundations volume is to collect a cross-section of contemporary information about real and computational experiments for mass transport in solid and liquid phases. The authors were selected to provide a rigorous description of their chosen research areas. The main aim of the volume is, therefore, to be useful as a type of guide to both contemporary computational and experimental techniques. Another aim of the volume is to demonstrate that computational experiments can be useful for the design and interpretation of real experiments. We draw special attention to the opening chapter from Prof. Helmut Mehrer and Prof. Graeme Murch which provides a comprehensive overview of the history of solid state diffusion.
The concept of the 22nd Concrete Days (CD 2015) allowed a rich programme of expert lectures and posters but also enough time for professional discussions, informal business negotiations and friendly meetings.
The Czech Concrete Society CSSI as the organizing body of the conference has done its best to ensure a convenient stay for 22 times. There were more than 310 participants at the conference this time.
The selected papers include recent results of scientific and engineering decisions in area of researching of properties and manufacturing technologies of modern concretes; modelling and design of structure elements from concrete and realization of significant construction projects.
The book covers a wide range of topics: Fracture Mechanics, Failure analysis, Composites, Multiscale Modelling, Micromechanics, Structural Health Monitoring, Damage Tolerance, Corrosion, Creep, Non-linear problems, Dynamic Fracture, Residual Stress, Environmental effects, Crack Propagation, Metallic and Concrete Materials, Probabilistic Aspects, Computer Modeling Methods (Finite Elements, Boundary Elements and Meshless), Microstructural and Multiscale Aspects.
