The 32nd volume of the journal "Advanced Engineering Forum" includes peer-reviewed manuscripts describing the results of engineering solutions and research dealing with actual problems of using in mechanical engineering methods of computational mechanics in design and numerical modeling, behavior of reinforced concrete in an aggressive environment, safety planning and management in industry and marketing research in telecommunication. Published articles will be useful for professionals in the various branches of engineering and for students and academic staff concerned with the related specialties.
The present publication arises as a result of the cooperation between the Institute of Production Technologies (IPT), belonging to the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology (MTF) of the Slovak University of Technology (STU) and TRANS TECH PUBLICATIONS INC. For the fifth time, the book aims at publishing scientific achievements on the Materials Science and Production Technologies fields, as well as at enhancing the worldwide cooperation and recognition among young and senior academicians and/or practitioners. Some of the main topics included in the book are those related but not limited to the trends in Materials Science and their application in industry, e.g.: composites and biomaterials, polymers, materials weldability, analysis of metals and alloys, numerical analyses and simulation of materials, etc. Most of these topics keep a direct relation to the production technologies and systems and thus, always keeping a special focus on the materials used, there are also topics in the book addressing key production processes, technologies and systems.
Novel Trends in Production Devices and Systems III (NTPDS III) special volume is aimed at publishing scientific achievements in the fields of Materials Science and associated Production Technologies, as well as at enhancing the worldwide cooperation among young and senior academicians and/or practitioners, and specially those from the European region. The volume has been enriched taking into account years of research and teaching activities in the fields, experiences resulting from the scientific collaboration among higher education centers, e.g.: CECOL, while at the same time by also counting on a prestigious editorial review board that made strong analyses of the submitted papers. Some of the main topics included in the book are those related but not limited to the trends in Materials Science and their application in industry, e.g.: composites and polymers, materials weldability, analysis of metals and alloys, numerical analyses and simulation of materials, etc.
The collected articles well reflect the latest progress made in some emerging areas of computational mechanics, including finite element method, finite volume method, meshless method, atomic and multiscale modelling method, structural and solid mechanics, computational fluid dynamics, geomechanics, computational biomechanics, structural and topology optimization, fracture and damage mechanics, and vibration and dynamics.
This special collection brings together the latest research results and technological advances concerning high-speed machining. It covers a wide range of topics in high-speed machining and high-performance machining-related fields ranging from the mechanisms of machining, modeling and simulation of machining process, machine tools, cutting tools, CAD/CAM, optimization, cooling and lubrication, testing, measuring, monitoring, controlling and industrial applications. The work will be of great interest to those working in the fields of processing, cutting-tool use, machine-tool use and CAD/CAE/CAM.
