Description: The net movement or diffusion of atoms and heat transport (and their interactions) in solids and liquids must surely represent the most basic processes in all of Materials Science and Engineering. This diffusion directly affects the very fabrication and properties of materials. Research of atoms and heat diffusion will continue to provide ways in discovering new materials, their properties, and determining how long they would last in service. Research in this area has been extremely popular in the area of Materials Science and Engineering. The present volume is entitled: “Mass and Thermal Transport in Engineering Materials III” and follows directly on from the previous volume in 2021. This volume again covers atoms and heat diffusion from the atomistic scale up to the macro-scale and represents a cross-section of the wide range of topics in this area.

Description: Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters BCI (WoS).
This topical volume on Advanced Diffusion Processes and Phenomena addresses diffusion in a wider sense of not only mass diffusion but also heat diffusion in fluids and solids. Both diffusion phenomena play an important role in the characterization of engineering materials and corresponding structures. Understanding these different transport phenomena at many levels, from atomistic to macro, has therefore long attracted the attention of many researchers in materials science and engineering and related disciplines. The present topical volume captures a representative cross-section of some of the recent advances in the area of mass and heat transport. Reflecting the enormous breadth of the area, the range of topics covered is accordingly very large.
