The main objective of this volume is to present the current understanding of leading researchers, engineers and scientists - from Romania and from around the world - concerning these fields in order to provide a platform from where researchers, engineers, academicians as well as industrial professionals can present their latest experiences and developmental activities in the mechanical engineering, manufacturing systems, robotics, medical and military fields.
The present work presents up-to-date contributions to the field of mechanisms, mechanical transmissions, robotics and mechatronics. The topics covered are: kinematics, dynamics, analysis and synthesis, mechanical design, sensors and actuators, intelligent control systems and related applications in planar and spatial mechanisms and mechanical transmissions, biomechanics, serial and parallel robots, mobile robots, tele-operation, haptics, virtual reality and precision mechanics. The results reported here should be of interest to researchers, scientists, industrial experts, teachers and students in the fields of engineering as related to design, control and applications.
The objective of ICAMR 2012 was to provide a forum for the discussion of new developments, recent progress and innovations in the field of Materials Science. The papers are divided into twenty-two sections, covering such topics as materials behaviour, casting and solidification, coatings and surface engineering, composites, machining technology, nanomaterials, biomedical manufacturing, sustainable manufacturing processes, manufacturing planning and scheduling, modelling and simulation, computer-aided design and engineering, semiconductor materials engineering, laser-based manufacturing and mechanical and electronic engineering control.
The modelling of Machining Operations has become very widespread today, with many researchers developing models with which to predict metal-cutting performance. The aim here is to provide an answer to the challenges presented by the machining industry, which is presently facing very tight economical and environmental constraints. The collection of over 100 peer-reviewed papers covers twelve research topics, including: “Analytical and Numerical Modelling”; “Cutting Fundamentals: Input Parameters”; “Cutting Fundamentals: Experimental Validation”; “Surface Integrity”; “Surface Topography”; “Tool Wear and Tool Life”; “Dynamics and Stability”; “High-Speed Machining and 5-Axes Machining”; “Abrasive Machining”; “Ultra-Precision and Micromachining”; “Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM)”; “Experimental: Non-Conventional Machining”. This work will thus constitute an invaluable handbook on the subject.
