The present publication arises as a result of the cooperation between the Institute of Production Technologies (IPT), belonging to the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology (MTF) of the Slovak University of Technology (STU) and TRANS TECH PUBLICATIONS INC. For the fifth time, the book aims at publishing scientific achievements on the Materials Science and Production Technologies fields, as well as at enhancing the worldwide cooperation and recognition among young and senior academicians and/or practitioners. Some of the main topics included in the book are those related but not limited to the trends in Materials Science and their application in industry, e.g.: composites and biomaterials, polymers, materials weldability, analysis of metals and alloys, numerical analyses and simulation of materials, etc. Most of these topics keep a direct relation to the production technologies and systems and thus, always keeping a special focus on the materials used, there are also topics in the book addressing key production processes, technologies and systems.
The 251 papers are grouped as follows:
Chapter 1: Advanced Materials Engineering and Technology;
Chapter 2: Advanced Mechanical Engineering and Design Technology;
Chapter 3: Power System and Energy Engineering;
Chapter 4: Instrumentation, Measurement and Testing Technologies;
Chapter 5: Signal and Data Processing, Data Mining;
Chapter 6: Mechatronics and Robotics Technology;
Chapter 7: Modern Control and Automation Engineering;
Chapter 8: Electronics and Integrated Circuits, Embedded Technology;
Chapter 9: Information Technologies, Communication and Networks;
Chapter 10: New Technologies and Methods in Civil Engineering and Environment;
Chapter 11: Organization of Production and Engineering Management.
These 189 conference papers cover a wide variety of topical areas, including: high-precision machining, non-conventional machining, CAD/CAM technology, machine tools and control, MEMS/NEMS, precision/medical devices, mechatronics, mechanical design and tribology, metrology, green manufacturing, advanced molding and forming and other related technologies. This work will certainly stimulate further research and development in the field of precision engineering.
The aim of this volume is to disseminate information on the best practices for Photonics Materials and Devices, Optical Materials and Devices, NEMS/MEMS Materials and Devices, Electronic Materials and Instruments, Modeling, Simulation and Applications, etc. It offers an opportunity for engineers and scientists in academia, industry and government to address the most innovative research and development concepts, including technical challenges and social and economic issues, and to expound their ideas, results, work in progress and experience concerning all aspects of Optical and Electronic Materials and Applications.
This work consists of 48 peer-reviewed papers which were selected from those presented at the International Conference on Experimental Mechanics 2010 (ICEM10), held on the 29th November to 1st December 2010, at the Legend Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The papers cover the latest research results on experimental mechanics, and offer a timely overview of the subject.
This work brings together peer-reviewed papers on innovations and practical suggestions with regard to engineering & technology; materials science and technology in manufacturing including artificial materials, forming, novel-material fabrication, green manufacturing, design and manufacturing of composite components, surface science and engineering, quality control of manufacturing systems, theoretical, simulation and experimental studies related to microstructures and residual stresses; manufacturing systems and technologies including manufacturing process simulation, CIMS and manufacturing systems, vibration measuring and reliability analysis, finite element analysis and structure optimization, fault diagnosis and maintenance theory, intelligent mechatronics and robotics, elements, structures, mechanisms, and applications of micro and nano systems, compound machine tools, rapid prototyping, printing (e.g. embossing), complex mechanical-electro-liquid systems, PDM, ERP, CRM, FMS, PLM, logistics and supply chains, effect of the machining method or technique upon resultant material mechanical properties, RPM, and management.
