This volume contains the selected papers presented at the 9th International Conference on Innovations, Physical Studies and Digitalization in Mining Engineering (IPDME 2021). The conference was held in St. Petersburg, Russia, on April 22–23, 2021. Within the conference framework, at Saint Petersburg Mining University, there were special sessions on novel materials for mining tools and equipment, materials study and engineering, mineralogy, and ore treatment. All included reviewed papers cover various topics within the field of materials science and present valuable research results.
This issue from the topic series “Corrosion” contains articles published by Trans Tech Publications in 2017 - 2020. The volume covers many aspects of the corrosive behaviour of metallic biomaterials - from corrosion resistance studies to biocompatible coatings. We hope this collection will be useful and interesting to a broad audience of researchers and engineers from the area of development and research properties of metallic biomaterials and practitioners who utilize implantable and non-implantable devices.
The special collection discusses recent results of research and development in the field of materials engineering, experimental methods, modeling, etc., with the aim to characterize mechanical properties of materials from nano to micro/meso-scale. Contributions on indentation and other methods for hardness and other mechanical properties assessment, measurement of deformations and stresses, time-dependent mechanical properties with related microstructure analyses (TEM/SEM, AFM, TERS, etc.) regardless of material type (metals, ceramics, plastics, biomaterials, concrete, etc.) are included.
Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters CPCI-S (WoS).
