The first book of the Proceedings of ASCO-Nanomat 2015 includes articles of 41 contributed papers of the third school-conference, which were recommended for publication by Publishing Committee. The articles reflect the new results and scientific achievements in the field of growth and synthesis of new nanomaterials and coatings, technology of their growth and preparation, their physical properties, calculations and modeling of the electronic structure and properties of new nanomaterials. The Proceedings consist of two chapters. In the first one “Semiconducting and Metal Nanoheterostructures: Self-Organization and Characterization” the 14-th articles devoted to atomic processes and nanostructure formation and characterization and ab initio calculations and modeling were collected. In the second chapter named “Nonlinear Optical Mediums, Nanocomposites, Nanostructured Coatings, Functional Materials and their Applications” the 27 articles devoted to formation technology and characterization of different kinds of nanomaterials of organic and non-organic nature were presented. This proceedings volume is intended for scientists, readers, professors and post-graduate students.
The 54 papers are grouped as follows:
I. Nano Materials: Synthesis and Characterisation, II Electrical, Magnetic, Optical Properties of Nanomaterials,
III. Polymers and Nanocomposites,
IV. Bio Nanomaterials and their Applications,
V. Nanomaterials: Energy & Environment,
VI. Nanomaterials: Theoretical and Computational Studies
The multi-functional properties of nanomaterials offer a wide range of opportunities for addressing several research and development challenges in the area of nanoscience and nanotechnology. Multi-functional nanomaterials find wide application in a variety of sectors including agriculture, medicine, telecommunications, disaster management and environmental conservation.The focus of this special topic volume is on multifunctional nanomaterial development and their emerging applications towards commercialization. This special topic illustrates a new pathway to achieve novel practical applications using nanomaterials. This special topic can be utilized as a text for researchers as well as graduate students who are interested in nanomaterials based applications. This special topic volume is multidisciplinary by nature. The readers can acquire the necessary knowledge in physics, chemistry and biology related to these multifunctional applications which are associated with the emerging nanomaterials.
Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters CPCI-S (WoS).
The 39 papers are grouped as follows:
Chapter 1: Semiconducting and metal nano-hetero-structures: self-organization, structure, modeling and characterization;
Chapter 2: Nonlinear optical mediums, biomaterials, nanocomposites, nanostructured coatings and their applications.
In recent years, research and development has advanced greatly. Materials made using nanoscale components add new functional and structural properties: yielding nanocomposites and opening up many applications. Such nanocomposites are of great importance for a multitude of industrial uses and attract much research interest. This special issue on Functional Nanocomposite Materials is a collection of twelve papers whose contributors are at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, the University of Science and Technology of Beijing, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, the Shenzhen Academy of Aerospace Technology, the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology and Georgia Institute of Technology. From these papers, readers can glean new research ideas in nanocomposite materials, as well as sense the quality of the work now going on; especially in the region of east Asia.
