This special issue collects selected full text peer-reviewed contributions short versions of which were presented at the co-hosting symposium of 5th International Symposium of Gunma University Medical Innovation (GUMI) and 9th International Conference on Advanced Micro-Device Engineering (AMDE), which was held on December 6th, 2018 in Kiryu, Japan, organized by GUMI Promotion Office and Gunma University. The collection covered research results in broad areas in biomedical engineering, applied materials, electrochemistry, nanotechnologies, machinery, signal and data processing, power electronics, and circuit technologies.
This volume contains original, peer-reviewed research papers from the 2nd International Conference on Materials Science and Industrial Applications (MSIA 2020), which was held on January 11-12, 2020 in Xi’an, China. The presented collection reflects the last results of researches and engineering decisions in the area of materials science and technologies of materials synthesis and processing.

The objective of this special collection was to provide a forum for researchers, educators, engineers and government officials, involved in the general areas of soft magnetic materials, soft ferrites, powder cores, composite materials, thin films, metamaterials, magnetic measurements and instrumentation, to disseminate their latest research results and to exchange views on the future research directions of these fields.
