This volume presents the third series of Advanced Materials Science compiled by the results of the 3rd International Conference on Advanced Materials Science (ICOAMS 2020, 8-9 December 2020, Indonesia). Presented articles reflect the wide range of scientific research results and engineering solutions in materials science and materials processing technologies.
These are the proceedings of the International Conference on Functional Materials and Nanotechnology (FMN2012), held on the 19 and 20th May, 2012, in Zhengzhou, P.R. China. They focus on Functional Materials and Nanotechnology. The peer-reviewed papers are divided into Chapter 1: Advanced Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology; Chapter 2: Nanotechnology, Mechanics and Materials Science; Chapter 3: Materials Applications, Green Chemistry and Mining Engineering; Chapter 4: Materials, Biotechnology, Manufacturing Engineering and Environment.
Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters CPCI-S (WoS).
Significant progress has been made over the past 30 years in handling silicon-based ceramics such as silicon nitride, silicon carbide, SiAlON, silicides and composites. A better understanding of processing parameters in various forming techniques, and of microstructure-property relationships, has led to substantial improvements in thermomechanical performance and reliability; as well as in cost reduction.
Ceramics have long been recognized as one of the key materials for the 21st century because of their various unique properties which cannot be duplicated by any other existing material.
