Description: The annual International Scientific Applied Conference "Problems of Emergency Situations" is organized by the National University of Civil Defence of Ukraine (Ukraine, Kharkiv). This year, the representatives from the Odessa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture (Ukraine, Odessa) were involved as partners. The purpose of the conference was to discuss issues related to the problems and prospects of the introduction of the latest developments and technologies aimed at preventing emergencies, minimizing their consequences in the field of civil defence, sharing experience and finding new facets of scientific cooperation, solving problems of emergencies that create a global threat to humanity.

Description:

This volume presents papers on mathematical modelling of magnetohydrodynamic flow and heat transfer in an electro-conductive polymer, as well as numerical analysis of heat transfer through nanofluid flow in different media, including porous media. Additionally, the study of multi-phase flow in a pipeline has been presented, which can be positively addressed in such key branch as the oil and gas industry. Besides, the volume is devoted to numerical analysis to assess the cooling hole's performance embedded in different trenched designs (triangular trench, semi-cylindrical trench, and corrugated trench) for improving the film cooling efficiency over a flat plate. The presented results might find their application in various areas of engineering.

Description: The credit of introducing Solid State Nuclear Track Detectors (SSNTDs) as a powerful research tool in the early sixties goes to P.B. Price, R.L. Fleischer and R.M. Walker of the General Electric Company of the United States of America. Basically, SSNTDs are dielectric materials or solid insulators such as mica, glass, synthetic plastics, etc. which record and permanently store the trajectory of fast moving charged particles in the form of submicroscopic trails of continuous damage called latent tracks. The present Volume consists of one dozen Papers on Applications of SSNTDs in various fields; Radon Studies covering more than half of this Volume.

Description: Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters CPCI-S (WoS).
The aim of this special collection is to present recent progress made, and reflect current ideas, in research fields where positron and positronium are involved. The contents cover a wide range of positron-related research topics; including both fundamental (theoretical calculations, radiation chemistry, hyperfine interactions, positronium physics and chemistry) and applied (metal, polymer, thin film and other materials, development of experimental techniques) aspects.

Description: These volumes contain an extensive body of carefully selected data, on diffusion in non-ferrous materials, gleaned from research published in leading journals during the past few decades. The materials covered include less-common as well as common metals, in both the almost-pure and highly-alloyed states, and the chosen data take account of the effects of various special conditions (thin films, strain, radiation, etc.) upon bulk, surface and pipe diffusion.
