industrialists and students to share, discuss and highlight their research
findings particularly works that related to research and technological
developments and knowledge transfers keeping in mind the main theme
Sustainable Engineering towards Green Technology
During the past few years, mechanics, solid-state phenomena and engineering materials have played important roles in the progress of human society, and scholarly research in the related fields has accumulated a treasury of accomplishments and has promoted the development of academic studies. Meanwhile, researchers are faced with many problems. This collection of 84 peer-reviewed papers is divided into sections on solid materials, solid mechanics and related topics. The volume will be essential reading for those working in the related areas and will provide the inspiration for future studies and advances.
This work brings together peer-reviewed papers on innovations and practical suggestions with regard to engineering & technology; materials science and technology in manufacturing including artificial materials, forming, novel-material fabrication, green manufacturing, design and manufacturing of composite components, surface science and engineering, quality control of manufacturing systems, theoretical, simulation and experimental studies related to microstructures and residual stresses; manufacturing systems and technologies including manufacturing process simulation, CIMS and manufacturing systems, vibration measuring and reliability analysis, finite element analysis and structure optimization, fault diagnosis and maintenance theory, intelligent mechatronics and robotics, elements, structures, mechanisms, and applications of micro and nano systems, compound machine tools, rapid prototyping, printing (e.g. embossing), complex mechanical-electro-liquid systems, PDM, ERP, CRM, FMS, PLM, logistics and supply chains, effect of the machining method or technique upon resultant material mechanical properties, RPM, and management.
Nanoscience is revolutionizing the design of medical devices, tissue scaffolding and drug-delivery systems. New discoveries regarding nano-system, made in other research areas, have opened up the possibility of using them in biomedicine. However, such nanoscience and its possibilities, which sometimes border on science fiction, have to be kept in perspective so as not to lose sight of the limitations with respect to safety that applications within the human body impose.
The rapid growth of digital design and manufacturing processes has also brought with it some processing work-flow challenges. While the various resultant products provide an ideal solution for some processing steps, more dedicated and integrated systems are sometimes required. How best can one handle incoming data and orders, automate the design and perhaps engineering, make robust plans, manage the process and data and deliver quality goods.
