Description: The 14th International Conference on Nanostructures, Nanomaterials and Nanoengineering (ICNNN 2025) and the 10th International Conference on Materials Technology and Applications (ICMTA 2025) were held in Kyoto, Japan, from October 29th to 31st, 2025 and had aims to provide a platform for presentation results of innovative research works in nanostructures, nanomaterials and nanoengineering, materials and technology of their processing and applications.
Edited by: Luise Kärger and Prof. Pierpaolo Carlone
Online since: April 2026
Description: The widespread use of composite materials, given relatively low development and manufacturing costs, creates significant demand for scientific knowledge and computational tools for their manufacturing. The mechanical behaviour of composite parts in service is dominated by fiber orientation and density, which in turn are determined by the forming process. Hence, predicting in-service performance requires a full understanding of, and preferably a prediction of, the complex material behaviour during manufacturing. The presented special edition will be helpful to researchers and practitioners who work with composite materials.

Description: The wide applications of high-level composite materials at affordable development and manufacturing costs create significant demand for scientific research and computational methods to analyse properties in composite manufacturing. The mechanical behaviour of composite parts in service is dominated by fiber orientation and density, which in turn are determined by the forming process. In this case, predicting in-service performance of finished products requires a full understanding of, and preferably a prediction of, the complex material behaviour during manufacturing. The presented special issue covers these and other issues arising in the development, production, and application of modern composite materials and will be useful to many scientists and engineers from the mechanical engineering industry.
