Description: This book contains papers collected from the 18th Asian BioCeramic (ABC) Symposium, held in Bandung, Indonesia on 19-20 September 2018 and reflected the most recent research made in the study of bioceramics and their applications. The papers are focused on synthesis, processing, and analysis of bioceramics properties, use of bioceramics for coating and surface modification of implants, application of bioceramics in the treatment of soft and hard tissue, infectious complications treatment, and tissue engineering in maxillofacial and orthopedic applications. The strong contribution related to the application of bioceramics and composite materials in dentistry and orthopedics, which is presented in this book, confirms the importance of these materials for clinical practice.

Description: This volume contains papers corresponding to communications presented at 30th Symposium and Annual Meeting of the International Society for Ceramics in Medicine (ISCM, October 26‒29, 2018, Nagoya, Japan) and it continues the tradition of the Bioceramics series offering, generally to young researchers, the ability to publish the work they are eager to present to the community of specialists participating in the meeting. The originality of the Bioceramics series is that the papers are available before the meeting to allow deeper, more detailed discussions than those occurring in classical meetings where exchanges are often hampered by the limited time devoted to presentations. These papers might not be perfect, but we believe that the basis for the discussions they provide is irreplaceable.

Description: This book collects 47 papers corresponding to communications presented at 29th Symposium and Annual Meeting of the International Society for Ceramics in Medicine (ISCM, October 25-27, 2017, Toulouse, France), one focus article related to the plenary lecture given by Corrado Piconi on bioinert ceramics, and 46 contributions, related to oral and poster communications on the different topics of the meeting, organized in six different chapters. This book continues the tradition of the Bioceramics series offering, generally to young researchers, the ability to publish the work they are eager to present to the community of specialists participating to the meeting. The originality of the Bioceramics series is that the papers are available before the meeting to allow deeper, more detailed discussions than those occurring in classical meetings where exchanges are often hampered by the limited time devoted to presentations. These papers might not be perfect but we believe that the basis for discussions they provide is irreplaceable.

The aim of “Biomaterials for Bone Regenerative Medicine” is to review extensively the latest developments in Biomaterials and their application to bone regeneration in vivo. Indeed, research on biomaterials and their novel applications is essential because of the health issues related to the aging population. A wide range of worldwide investigations is being undertaken by eminent scholars in order to develop further innovative materials for next-generation applications. In future, it is expected that a tissue engineering approach, associating novel biomaterials with stem cells, will be available for all types of bone defect.
