The 16th International Symposium on Advanced Materials (ISAM) is a consistent biennial scientific gathering being held since 1989 in Islamabad, Pakistan. This volume is the proceedings of the sixteenth symposia: ISAM-2019, 21-25 October 2019, National Centre for Physics, Islamabad, Pakistan and contains selected peer-reviewed papers that presented the latest research results in the area of advanced materials and technologies of materials processing used in the various branches of human activity.
The International Conference on Materials Science and Engineering – BraMat (Brasov Materials), organized every odd year in Brasov at Transilvania University, is the main Romanian scientific event in the field of Materials Science and Engineering. This book contains selected articles presented at the BraMat 2017 conference. The main topics of this collection are researching and testing properties of various structural materials, experience of their application in various areas of modern machinery, last results in the researches and development of materials processing technologies.
We hope this book will be useful for many researchers and engineers from various fields of material science.
Innovation in Materials Science - 2 reinforces the adage of John Dismukes that, “Scientific Technology” has progressively displaced “Empirical Technology”, as the primary driver and basis for increasing economic development over the last four centuries. Technical inventions, and innovations based upon technical ideas, remain the basic drivers for wealth-creation. However, the areas of current materials research have changed considerably between 2008, when the first volume was published, and now (2012). The collection of articles in Volume 2 reflects this change. An index of the articles published in the earlier collection, Innovation in Materials Science (2008 doi:10.4028/www.scientific.net/KEM.380) is also provided in order to comprehend the considerable changes which have occurred in the landscape of materials research over the past four years.
