Description: The theme of this special collection of peer-reviewed papers is the preparation and application of High-Performance Mineral-based Powders (HQMP). Here, HQMP refers to powder prepared from natural minerals with high specifications. It is predicted that the area of application of HQMP will become increasingly extensive. The future development of HQMP lies in the further exploitation and improvement of the manufacturing and production technologies of HQMP-orientated towards markets, and this collection will provide a handy roadmap for these likely developments.

The technological demands on powder-processing of new materials, and on the associated resources, have reached a particularly prosperous state. Many types of industrial material processed using powder technology become the basis of important new materials, including those used in: building, papermaking, plastics, coatings, energy-use, environmental protection, etc. The cost and quality of raw industrial powder materials have a direct effect upon costs, benefits and market competitivity.

No present-day research and development program is complete without the inclusion of a robust modeling and numerical simulation component. Models and model-based numerical simulations are extensively used to probe complex materials behavior and structure in order to obtain a deeper insight into the fundamentals of materials. Multi-physics models are becoming increasingly common, with advances in computational science, and are rapidly advancing the basic understanding of materials.
