Description: The 7th edition of the International Conference on Powder Metallurgy and Additive Manufacturing of Titanium, PMTi2024, is taking place for the first time in Spain after a successful series of previous conferences held in Australia, New Zealand, Germany, China, the United States and Canada. The aim of the conference is to gather researchers and professionals on the processing, design and application of titanium and its alloys fabricated by powder metallurgy (PM) and additive manufacturing (AM) technologies. For three days, attendants will have the opportunity to discuss topics from powder production and characterisation to applications through different processing routes. Besides Ti alloys, titanium aluminides and Ti-based metal matrix composites are also considered, as well as recycling and sustainability.

The light metals (aluminum, magnesium and titanium) are important for many applications, but are most critical for transportation where weight savings results in a plethora of benefits including reduced fuel consumption, higher speed and longer range, improved performance/handleability, etc. This applies whether we are dealing with automobiles, airplanes, space vehicles, bicycles or even submarines – witness the titanium alpha class submarine in “Hunt for Red October”.

Description: Interest in the phenomenon of superplasticity has been increasing steadily over the past two decades, both with regard to promoting fundamental scientific understanding as well as commercial application. Most of the early studies on superplasticity dealt with microduplex metallic alloys. The unabated interest in, and scientific research on, superplasticity has now broadened the scope of the topic to include intermetallic compounds, ceramics, composites and nanocrystalline materials.
