Description: This special edition presents a collection of contributions addressing the formability of metallic materials, with particular attention to their capacity to undergo plastic deformation while minimising damage and defects in the final product. The mechanisms influencing forming processes, such as plastic flow localisation, fracture, and springback, are presented among other phenomena of interest. The contributions encompass experimental, theoretical, and numerical investigations aimed at advancing understanding of the interplay among material properties, mechanical and thermal loading conditions, and other environmental constraints that govern the formability of metallic materials. The edition will be of interest to many specialists in mechanical engineering.

Description: In metal forming, friction, lubrication, and wear are of utmost importance. On that account, for optimum process design, improving formability and enhancing tool life, a better understanding and an accurate prediction of friction/wear in forming processes are necessary. In this special issue, different aspects of tribology in cold/hot sheet metal forming, forging and rolling are discussed. The book will be helpful to specialists in metal forming technologies.

Description: This book presents selected peer-reviewed contributions from the international conference Metallography; Fractography 2025, held in April 2025 in the High Tatra Mountains, the Slovak Republic. The conference aims to provide a forum for discussing recent advances in metallography, fractography, and materials science and engineering. The book covers traditional metallic materials, as well as modern and advanced materials and related technologies. Emphasis is placed on experimental methods, microstructural characterisation, and analysis of the relationship between processing, structure, and properties. The proceedings also aim to promote international collaboration and knowledge exchange between academia, research institutions, and industry.
