Proceedings of the "19th Conference on the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of Buildings" are the result of discussion new trends and procedures in the field of rehabilitation and reconstruction of buildings and structures. This collection will be useful and interesting for many engineers and researchers which activity is related to this area of construction.
The aim of this book is to present the wide range of papers on advanced engineering materials and materials processing technologies, practice of application of engineering materials, surface engineering and tribology.
The conventional and unconventional materials, modern engineering methods and technologies employed in the restoration and reconstruction of architectural heritage are the topics of the aggregated edition “Restoration of Architectural Heritage". The book contains the scientific articles selected from the materials published by Trans Tech Publications Inc. from 2010 to 2016 inclusive. We hope this collection will be useful for many readers whose activity refers to the architectural heritage preservation sphere.
Collection of selected, peer reviewed papers from various areas of wood processing - chemical processing of wood and plant biomass, processes for the production of broadcast materials, hydrothermal processes and environmental issues, shows a varied range of possibilities in the exploitation and processing of wood and their interdependence. The publication should serve as inspiration for science, research, education and practice for finding the comprehensive approach to tackle the issue. The unilateral approach often tempts to distort the perception of such complex issues as efficient exploitation of wood. Multilateral understanding of the issues can contribute to the discovery and implementation of modern original practices in the processing of wood.
The 72 papers are grouped as follows:
Chapter 1: Surface Topography and Coatings;
Chapter 2: Corrosion Processes and Corrosion Properties of Materials;
Chapter 3: Surface Treatment of Wood;
Chapter 4: Technological Properties of Materials for Mechanical Engineering;
Chapter 5: Plastics and Composites
The 84 papers are grouped as follows:
Chapter 1: Bamboo and Wood;
Chapter 2: Earthen Materials and Constructions;
Chapter 3: Cement, Mortar and Concrete;
Chapter 4: Standards, Guidelines and Policy Issues;
Chapter 5: Composites Reinforced with Vegetable Fibers;
Chapter 6: Structural Integrity and Durability;
Chapter 7: Advances in Research Methodologies and Material Testing;
Chapter 8: Recycling of Industrial, Agricultural and Urban Waste;
Chapter 9: Affordable Housing Using Low Cost Energy Saving Materials
The book covers a broad range of topics regarding the assessment and conservation of timber structures, with papers subdivided into ten themes: Assessment and conservation; Timber grading; Assessment by non-destructive methods and survey techniques; Assessment by testing and modeling; Reinforcement and treatment of timber elements; Strengthening of connections; Upgrading of timber structures; Monitoring; Learning from case studies; Codes and guidelines. The book will be of valuable use and precious help for consultants, specialists, practitioners as well as for researchers and scholars for what concerns assessment, conservation, repair and monitoring of timber structures and wood artifacts.
This volume summarizes the most important results of the ongoing research in the Center of Excellence on Applied Materials Science and Nanotechnology at the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Miskolc, Hungary. The primary goal of the research activities is the extension of the knowledge available for materials exhibiting special properties.
