Advances in Composites

Review from Ringgold Inc., ProtoView: Peer-reviewed papers from a November 2010 conference, held in Shenzhen, China, are presented in this two-volume set on advances in materials and manufacturing processes. There is no introductory material and the papers are not grouped in sections according to subjects. Some specific paper topics include flexural behaviors of RC beams, UV curable polyurethane acrylates, combinations of various self-consolidating concrete test methods and workability response, and effects of substituents and solvents on a phoneol-isocyanate urethane reaction. Other subjects are discrete element modeling of conditioned soil by a genetic neural network, sputtered silver-based low-emissivity coating on glass, preparation and performance of thermosetting heat-reflective coatings for asphalt pavement, and mechanical and shielding properties of As-cast new Pb-B shielding composite materials. There is also discussion of topics including crack pattern evolution and complexity of brittle failure in rock, the effect of a binary admixture of fly ash and slag on the carbonation of concrete for hydraulic structure, modification of a grooved paulownia wood sandwich, and mechanical properties of phosphoaluminate cement.
