Review from Ringgold Inc., ProtoView:
Following symposia at the 2004, 2007, and 2010 annual meetings of TMS, TheMinerals, Metals, and Materials Society, a fourth was held to explore thebreadth of activities in the cost affordable use of titanium and emergingapplications. The 24 papers are presented in sections on overview andlow-cost processing, power consolidation and characterization, creativeprocessing and low-cost materials, and properties. Among the topics are costeffective developments for fabricating titanium components, consolidatingblended titanium/magnesium powders by microwave processing, the economicsurface treatment of titanium alloys to improve their resistance againstenvironmental high temperature, titanium-based composite coatings depositedby high velocity oxygen fuel and plasma spraying methods, and phaseconstitution and heat treatment behavior of low-cost titanium/manganesesystem alloys.
