Review from Ringgold Inc., ProtoView: The 41 papers selected for the December 2012 workshop present the findings of recent research on nanomaterial synthesis, characterization, and application in energy, solar cells, pollution abatement, and biomedical devices. The Malaysian contributors apply ultrasound irradiation to ZnO powder, synthesize nano-wollastonite from rice husk ash and limestone, grow SnO structures on p-type silicon by thermal evaporation without a metal catalyst, and produce silver nanoparticles with the help of aqueous lotus flower extract. Other topics include molybdenum complex as a photosensor for direct water splitting, the antibacterial activity of silver particles, and the effect of adiabatic extrusion on the crystallization pattern and thermal behavior of polyamide nanocomposites.
