Review from Ringgold Inc., ProtoView: The forum was held to strengthen the established contacts between Russian and German scientists, to enhance scientific and technical cooperation in fundamental and applied nanotechnology, and to identify topics that might lead to joint research and development clusters or project groups. The major areas discussed were synthesis, structure, and application of advanced materials; novel processing for improving materials; and biomedical aspects of nanomaterials. The 43 selected papers consider such topics as mechanical and tribotechnical characteristics of nanocomposites based on a mixture of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene and polypropylene, the impact of protective release coatings with nanopowders on the quality of bronze castings surface, products of electrical explosion of iron wires in an argon-oxygen mixture, and non-woven polylactide scaffolds obtained by solution blow spinning and the in vitro degradation dynamics.
