TTP / www.scientific.net joins eduGAIN

July 16th marks the date of yet another new milestone in facilitating easy access to www.scientific.net

In its ambition to make access as easy as possible for students, faculty staff and other interested visitors TTP has joined eduGAIN.

This will provide easy access for them with a simple way to log into to over a million articles using their home organisation's username and password.

Federated identity services play an increasingly critical role in facilitating access to big science projects. And so our commitment to and participation in these initiatives will allow scientists to further collaborate in international research.

eduGAIN helps nearly 27 Million students, researchers and educators access online services while minimising the number of accounts the users have to manage – reducing costs, complexity and security risks. Institutions are enabled to easily and scalably support access to services globally – allowing control over user management.

eduGAIN comprises over 60 participant federations connecting more than 5,000 Identity and Service Providers.

Benefits:

  • The 'virtualized' ID, enables resources to save the effort of registering and administering users based on paperwork.
  • Standardized interfaces enable resources to integrate users of other organizations without much effort.
  • A standardized authentication mechanism assures users a granted access to various resources of organizations with a single password, irrespective of location.
