Robust Optimization Design of Ultra High Strength Steel Roll Forming Based on Response Surface Method

Article Preview

Abstract:

Springback is the main defect in ultra high strength steel roll forming. It can be reduced or eliminated by manipulating a suitable parameters, such as, roller corner radius and overbending angles. But it is difficult to attain the optimum parameters during roll forming. This paper deals with the optimization of roll forming parameters in order to compensate the springback, a new optimization algorithm integrating the finite element method (FEM) and adaptive response surface methodology (RSM) is presented. Finally, The springback benchmark of U-profiled section roll forming has been utilized to validate the method, and good results of springback elimination have been obtained.
