A New Strategic Partner Selection Method Base on Factor Analysis in the Construction Industry

Abstract:

Partnering can bring mutual benefit for client and contractor in construction industry. There are two types of partnering: project partnering and strategic partnering. Contractor selection is a decisive event for strategic partnering project success, but it is difficult for client select a suitable contractor to set up strategic partnership with tradition contractor selection method. In this paper, the factors of successful strategic partnering were analyzed, and eighteen indictors were selected through investigation and interview, furthermore four determinant factors in the strategic contractor selection were gotten base on the factor analysis method: cooperation willingness, compatibility and continuous learning ability, cooperation ability and flexible ability, which can be as a reference for client to select strategic partners correctly during procurement phase.
